75 single carb car

My 75 will not idle below 1800.  I have spray cleaned the carb inside and out

and tried to adjust the idle speed with the idle speed screw with no luck. I

did notice the metering needle is "blunt" in comparison to the others I have

around that came from double carb cars.  I also unscrewed the damper and

lifted it and pushed it down and the idle went down accordingly (although not

for long).  The metering needle does not move as freely on the original single

carb as it does on the parts from twin carb set-up.  I have also added Sea

Foam fuel system cleaner to the gas and added 5 gals of fresh gas and

installed 4 new fine wire plugs.

Sounds like a significant air leak somewhere in the manifold. Cracked

hose to the brake booster, perhaps...??
