1977 TR7s
« on: May 17, 2019, 08:57:30 PM »
I just posted to Facebook but thought I'd ask here too. Just came across a

white 1977 TR7. Owner died recently. The ones I know about (Joe's and Dan's)

have been converted (to V6 and V8) and there's only one other photo of an

original I've got from someone who I suspect is no longer of member of this

esteemed group. I think Paul MacDonald once had a 1977 preproduction TR8

right? Also in white? Joe Pinto too maybe. NOT many of them.

All 1977s were white correct? And all were built right around the time of the

Speke strike? Did they have 5 speeds by then? I think so right? When did the

interiors go to tartan?

Inquiring minds...

I have owned 4 ACN TR8 coupes built in 1977 one was white, one was brown, one

was red and one was yellow.

3 automatics and one 5 speed.  3 with tartan interior and one tan.  All were

original.  the ACN 77 built 5 speeds are rare most were automatic.

I had a Tahiti Blue 1977 TR7 with 4 speed transmission, A/C (rare in Canada)

and green tartan interior... pretty sure it was a victory edition car as it

came with the white spoker wheels and the big white wrap-around decal...

Cool car, but a previous owner had messed with it quite a bit... :(

I have a brown automatic, #27 or 29.  Cant remember which, the VIN is 2 off of

the riveted body tag.

First car I ever bought new was a 77 Tahiti blue TR7, 4 speed, AC,

biscuit interior, spoker stripe (but steel wheels with plastic gray

hubcaps), black vinyl on the roof. Traded that in on the TR8 two years

later.
