lock picks, pry tools, glovebox lock
« on: October 12, 2018, 08:58:26 AM »
My glovebox lock turns, and the key seems to work but it doesn't actually work

the latching mechanism. I've been fooling around with my other TR8 trying to

fashion tools to get it open by pressing down on the white latching part, all

to no avail. My patience is wearing thin, as our my hopes of actually getting

this open without resorting to something more drastic.

Speaking of which, I was thinking to hacksaw through one of the hinges (which

I can get to pretty easily). Perhaps then there will be enough access to get

in the rest of the way.

Anyone have a spare glovebox hinge or are these NOT common and Unobtanium?

My guess is that plastic latch dog has broken and is no longer connected to

the lower part that acts on the barrel and is just being pushed up by the

spring. I would think the glove box lid in grey should be obtainable from our

normal purveyors of used parts.
