Newbie question from a not-so-newbie
« on: April 21, 2019, 04:59:07 PM »
I have a confession to make.B  I've been driving Triumphs for 25 years -

started with a Spitfire, now a TR8 - and have *NEVER* been to a regional

or national meet.B  I'll wait for the gasps of disbelief to subside.....

The good news:B  I plan to rectify this personality flaw this week when I

attend the VTR SC Regionals In Posttsboro, TX, on Lake Texoma.B  I'll be

driving up from San Antonio, convoying with a couple of friends.B  It's a

little over 350 miles one way, mostly interstate and state highway.

I'm driving a freshly built carbed TR8 with a Hollie.B  Most everything

is new or rebuilt including a new Pertronics distributor.B  I've put

about 1200 miles on it since the rebuild with few problems, mostly local

car shows and club events. Longest day trip so far has been about 175

miles.

So, what do all y'all recommend to throw in the boot? Tools? Spares?B

Shiner Bock?

Shiner Bock, certainly.B  Also get a couple of distributor rotors.B  There

were some bad ones in circulation some years back and when they go, they go

instantaneously with no warning.B  They are cheap, easy to swap out and take

up very little room.

Enjoy.B  Those conventions are fun.

I hadn't heard about the rotors.  I'll try to overnight a couple before

hitting the road.
