Title: Metal Valley Pan Gasket
Post by: Randy Tess on February 13, 2019, 07:27:39 PM
Do we need to put any gasket sealer on the metal valley pan gasket on installation?

Thanks,

I donbt know if it is needed, but Ibve always used it around the water

ports.  I use this procedure:

I've used gasket shellac around the water passages but left the intake

passages alone. Abre you using a metal gasket or a composite one?

You should buy new metal clamps for front and rear.

Thanks Wayne.

I have the metal version.

Sadly I had some leaks from the rear of the gasket this last go round.

The leaks look like they are from the gasket where the intake covers up the

coolant channel.

May have come from the rubber gasket / clamp area as well.

I have never replaced the metal hold down brackets or rubber pieces in the

block.  Do I need to do that? Suggested source?

The Triumph mobile service truck is not scheduled in my area any time soon so

I have to do all this myself.

Thanks,

Randy

Hi Gents,

I use a smear of sealant around the coolant ways, also later engines had wider

seals and clamps.

Make sure your breather system is all ok as Rover V8's will push oil out from

anywhere is any breather problems
